Choc Hazelnut Spread


INGREDIENTS

2 cups FreshLife Natural Hazelnuts

100g dark or milk chocolate, chopped

2 tbsp maple syrup

½ tsp vanilla

¼ tsp salt


METHOD

  • Preheat oven to 175 degrees.

  • Place the hazelnuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roast for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Transfer the nuts to a clean tea towel and wrap tightly to steam for 1 minute. This will loosen the skins.

  • Vigorously rub the nuts in the tea towel to remove the skins, then allow to fully cool.

  • Place the de-skinned hazelnuts in a blender or food processor and blend on low speed for 8-10 minutes or until it becomes a nut butter. Scrape the sides of the container as required.

  • Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second bursts until the chocolate has melted. Add the maple syrup and vanilla and stir to combine.

  • Pour the chocolate mixture over the hazelnut butter, add the salt and blend until combined.

  • Transfer the homemade chocolate hazelnut spread into mason jars and store at room temperature for 2-3 weeks.
